Join the Pacific Peoples Partnership (PPP) to celebrate a year of achievement at our Annual General Meeting (AGM) on December 13th at Alcheringa Gallery. This is an opportunity to learn about PPP programs over the last year, and connect with others over shared interests in the Pacific and social justice.
We are looking forward to reflecting on all of the incredible PPP programs from 2011-2012, said PPP Executive Director April Ingham. From the support of civil society groups working on womens rights in West Papua, to hosting the One Wave Festival of arts and culture in Victoria BC, PPP has created new partnerships and made positive strides in diverse programme areas.
The evening will begin with mingling and refreshments, while enjoying Hawaiian songs by local guitarist, George Bence. The AGM itself will follow. Next up is a multi-media performance from Pedaling for Papua campaign coordinator, Jeremy Bally, who cycled from Victoria BC to St. Johns NL, raising awareness about West Papua.
Alcheringa Gallery will be exhibiting drawings from Papua New Guinean artist, Raymond Dumoi, and silver jewelry and maple bowls by First Nations artists, Edward Joe and Rod Smith. The event will also include the launch of PPPs latest Tok Blong Pasifik publication, entitled Raven and Paradise, which features art from Indigenous youth in West Papua and BC.
All are welcome to join us in reflecting on the current and future partnerships of PPP and enjoy this evening of good company, learning, art, and music. A special thank you our dear friends and sponsors of this event, Alcheringa Gallery.
