Music by Giacomo Puccini Libretto by Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa Based on Scènes de la vie de bohème by Henry Murger Sung in Italian, with English surtitles Pre-performance talk 1 hour before curtain

One of the most loved operas of all time, Puccini's La bohème is a gorgeous, nostalgic slice of life about a group of young friends hanging out together, experiencing Paris and love, and loss. Puccini's music sparkles with humour, pours out lush, sumptuous melodies, and is always completely irresistible.

In the role of Mimi, we are thrilled to welcome back Lucia Cesaroni, last seen at POV as Woglinde in Das Rheingold and Anne Trulove in The Rake's Progress.

Tenor Jason Slayden (Adorno in 2016's Simon Boccanegra) is Rodolfo. That ever-loving, ever-squabbling couple, Musetta and Marcello, will be played by Sharleen Joynt (the Queen of the Night in last season's The Magic Flute) and Brett Polegato (Paolo in Simon Boccanegra). With the Victoria Symphony and the Pacific Opera Victoria Chorus.
