The OUTstages Festival presents playreadings by two emerging playwrights: Liam Monaghan and Colette Habel.
The Boy in the Chrysalis
By Liam Monaghan (Toronto)
A little play about a big personality, The Boy in the Chrysalis tells the story of a young gay teacher and drag queen who, fed up with reality, chooses to inhabit a fantasy world instead. Fresh off a break-up and home after a traumatic event at school, he goes on a playful journey from the prairies of Alberta to the drag scene of Ottawa to Marie Antoinette’s Versailles without ever leaving his living room.
sorry god
By Colette Habel (Victoria)
Ladies, gentlemen, non-conforming gender types, welcome to The Palace. Len, a jack-of-all-trades, and Simone, a drag queen-in-training, find each other at The Palace and their lives become inexplicably intertwined. Len and Simone come together and fall apart, as these two young queers navigate life, love and lipstick.
