A collaboration between VIU ElderCollege and Canadian Federation of University of Women: Parksville-Qualicum. In every society throughout history, colour has been used to identify, to distinguish, to decorate and to adorn; in short, to enhance our lives. This ‘colourful’ talk will look at how we perceive colour, how we use colour and what makes something coloured.

This presentation will be followed by refreshments and informal discussion with Dr. Le Couteur. Speaker: Penny Le Couteur, PhD, Chemistry. An outstanding communicator who makes science accessible and entertaining, Penny was Dean of Arts and Science at Capilano University. During her more than 30 years as a chemistry instructor, many students both in Canada and internationally have benefited from Penny's wisdom.

A past president of the Canadian Federation of Women in Science and Technology, Penny co-authored the popular book Napoleon's Buttons: Seventeen Molecules that Changed History. Tickets: $10 cash at the door.
