OUR 2015 Earthship Inspired Natural Building Workshop

July 9 through July 26 (arrival is prior to 6pm dinner on the July 8, leaving around noon on the July 27)

During this workshop we will be guided through the six principles of Earthship design.

1. Thermal/Solar heating and cooling,
2. Alternative electricity production,
3. Contained sewage treatment,
4. Building with natural and recycled materials,
5. Water harvesting,
6. Food production.

We will build a climate appropriate Miniship with an interior of 100sq/ft. Additional design features will include, a double greenhouse, no concrete and climate automation. The workshop will cover the related theory as we move through the construction phases.

- Tire pounding
- bottle walls
- greenhouse construction and roof (carpentry)
- electrical and plumbing systems (including some automation)
- greenhouse planter cells
- natural plastering, and finishing

Please note: Registration in this course includes registration in our Design a Natural Home with Elke Cole Course July 17–19.

Our lead instructor, Ben Garratt, will be joining the OUR building team for a second season, and as a resident with his wife Mary, Sydney (5y/o) and Sky (2y/o).

He is a general contractor with a commitment to non toxic and natural building, an electrician and carpenter with 20 years construction experience.

Ben takes care of our systems infrastructure, (plumbing, electrical and mechanical) and has taught these topics on numerous Tiny house and Earthship builds in North America and his birthplace of Australia.
