The 36th Oscar Hickes Memorial Hockey Tournament in Port Alice is Vancouver Island's longest running tournament. The four-day adult tournament began in 1978 to honour Port Alice sports fanatic Oscar Hickes, who died suddenly at age 27.
Hockey players from all over the island join in this fun competition, with games running day and night and lots of social activities.
It's a great community event open to the public and includes concessions, beverage garden, and a Saturday night dance.
