Open Word: Readings and Ideas: Louise Bernice Halfe

Giving a haunting picture of Canada’s residential school legacy, poet Louise Bernice Halfe will read from her collection, Burning in this Midnight Dream, at Open Space, the University of Victoria, and the Victoria Festival of Authors. Released in spring of 2016, Burning in this Midnight Dream was written as the Truth and Reconciliation Commission unfolded. Halfe’s sometimes fierce, sometimes tender voice opens a window through which we can see ways colonial violence moves through families, communities, and lives. Open Space welcomes Halfe as a part of its Open Word: Readings and Ideas literary series, in partnership with the University of Victoria Department of Writing.
At Open Space on Tuesday, September 27 at 7:30 p.m., Halfe will participate in an interview with Janet Rodgers and present a reading.
