Hombre with D-Set & Mykee get together on December 20 at Hush Nightclub to raise money for the Salt Spring Island SPCA to help address the island's stray cat crisis.

About the Event

Reliable Entertainment presents another awesome theme party and for a great cause. Time to bust out those festival onesies! There will be some prizes for the best ones. Expect to hear a bunch of SPEED GARAGE, BASSLINE WARPERS, and FUNK all night long featuring Hombre.

TOP 5 FELINE ONESIES WILL GET A FREE DRINK! (just come find Mykee for it). Why you ask? Because we are also putting proceeds toward the Salt Spring SPCA.

About the Cause

"Salt Spring SPCA needs your help to address the island�s cat crisis. There are approximately 1,600 stray cats on the island, many of whom live short, painful lives, leaving behind kittens who repeat the cycle.

The late Margaret Franey left a $50,000 matching gift to create a spay/neuter fund to tackle overpopulation. Donate to the campaign and see your gift double."

About the DJs

HOMBRE..... has been around a while. He first owned a pair of decks soon after meeting his influential friends who are known as TheChopmixers. During the years 1991-1993 they brought an audio assault on cowering victims in a 'students only' shelter on a wet day - 'the 6th form common room'. Since those early years, he's improved a bit on the decks, learnt some fairly basic scratching and ditched the awful Soundlab decks in favour of some nice shiny Vestax ones.

"Hitchhiking into Nelson in the summer of '98 I had no idea that I was going to discover the beat, the driving force behind my life today. Early morning Disco sessions, Breakbeat bombs, and old skool Jungle guided my path and soon my record collection started to grow."

The mixes range from being well thought out affairs (like the recent 80s Throwdown mix which maybe his opus) to very hap-hazard and rough-edged party mixes.
"From Funk to Hip-Hop and back to Breaks, I could never find enough music to satisfy my tastes."

Either way, it's hard to tell what comes next and hopefully he'll get his act together and provide the listening world something new soon. Switching it up from Reggae to Drum n' Bass, funk to Hip-Hop and Heavy Bassline Breaks, Hombre specialize in keeping the party rockin, no matter what the venue!!

D-SET..... (a.k.a. Brent Kral) is one of the few Speed Garage DJs on Vancouver Island. D-Set has been playing since the summer of '98 and has been producing Speed Garage tracks for about a year now. Its always a treat to experience how His Energy makes an Entire Dance Floor Go Off when he steps up in front of a crowd. Brent has played along side Dig Dug, Soulfix, Twocker and Czech. He is guaranteed to knock your socks right out of your dancing shoes with Marshmallow Bass Lines.

MYKEE..... is a veteran of over 10 years, Mykee (a.k.a. Mike MacNeil) is one of the island's most versatile and on demand DJs and this summer was no different, as he performed all the major events like Soundwave Music Festival, VEMF (Victoria Electronic Music Festival), Summerbreak Music Festival, Breakwater Gathering, as well as the Superfriends, Funkalicious, and Pump it Louder series. Always searching for the perfect beat, his acquired taste in music will grab your attention and make your ass shake on its own! Mike has a knack for educating and entertaining a crowd at the same time when he plays. With his vast knowledge of electronic music, and ability to read a crowd, he knows what to play and when to play it. His ability to surprise a crowd every time he plays after all this time is nothing short of amazing. Mike is excited to rock Hush, and says it has been, and will always be his favourite place to play. He will be playing a set of mostly Soulful, Groovy House, infused with some Filthy Bass Line House. Mike has been a huge part of the Vancouver Island scene with his company Reliable Productions, contributing some of the largest and most memorable parties and DJ sets to date. It's no wonder he's Vancouver Islands' number 1 Party Rocker!
