Oliver Swain & Glenna Garramone - Tower of Song: A Tribute to Leonard Cohen

Tower of Song is a creative tribute to the music of Leonard Cohen, presented by singer-songwriters Oliver Swain and Glenna Garramone. Both famous and lesser-known selections from the Cohen cannon�arranged for two voices, banjo, upright bass, piano, and guitar�together with a few of Oliver and Glenna�s original compositions, will round out an evening in celebration of Canada�s greatest bard.

Oliver has played in several well-known bands�Outlaw Social, the Duhks, the Bills, and most recently his own Big Machine. His �dazzling and dramatic� performances (Folk Music Canada) have wowed audiences near and far.

Glenna crafts �raw, emotional, and utterly captivating� songs (Monday Magazine) on both piano and guitar. She was awarded the Grand Prize in the 2010 Artswells Songwriting Contest and holds a BFA in Writing from UVic.

Our feature act will be preceded by what is arguably Victoria�s best weekly acoustic Open Stage session where musicians from fledglings to professionals can perform a 10 minute set for one of the most welcoming, attentive and participative audiences in town. Aspiring Open Stage performers can sign-up with the VFMS Host between 7:00 and 7:30pm to do a set but should get there early to improve their chances of getting on the evening�s line-up.
