*** 1/2 Star Rating!
Susan Freedman sparkles in this revealing one woman comedy about getting older and confronting and ultimately accepting her own mortality.
Freedman, 76 is instantly likeable. She’s an engaging storyteller sharing her past near- misses with the grim reaper. Her material is strongest when it eschews cliched “over the hill “ jokes in favour or wry observations about how our relationship with death changes as we grow older.
You don't need to be oldish to appreciate Old-ish, however. Ultimately this show is a big-hearted reminder that growing old for all its aches and pains, is actually a privilege.
Part proceeds go to support of MOVE Adapted Fitness and Rehabilitation Society a non-profit gym for the disabled at 531 Yates St. It's at the historic Odd Fellows Hall 1315 Douglas St.
