Join us for a full day of fun as we celebrate 50 years of recreation, connection, and community.
Oak Bay Recreation Centre is turning 50! Since opening its doors on October 24, 1975, the Centre has been a pillar of recreation and community life in the heart of Oak Bay and Victoria.
Over the past five decades, the Centre has grown into a dynamic facility offering something for everyone, from swimming and skating to tennis, fitness, and cultural programming. With a pool, arena, indoor sports field, tennis bubbles, fitness centre, multipurpose rooms, and a restaurant, it’s been a place where memories are made, and community thrives
. Event Schedule (Friday, October 24, 2025):
9:00 to 10:00 a.m. – 70s Aquafit (Pool)
10:00 to 11:00 a.m. – Free Fitness Class with Jazzercise Oak Bay (Indoor Sports Field)
11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. – Open House: cake cutting, coffee & tea, time capsule opening, archives display, photo slideshow, Wall of Fame presentation (Sportsview Lounge)
12:00 to 2:00 p.m. – Family Fun Zone: Bouncy Castle and game stations (Indoor Sports Field)
12:00 to 2:30 p.m. – Discounted Court Time – $5.00 (1975 pricing) (Indoor Tennis Bubble – Courts 1–4)
1:00 to 3:00 p.m. – 70s Pro-D Day Everyone Welcome Swim (Pool)
1:30 to 3:00 p.m. – 70s Pro-D Day Everyone Welcome Skate (Arena)
6:00 to 8:00 p.m. – 70s Music Bingo Night (Sportsview Lounge)
6:30 to 8:30 p.m. – 70s Everyone Welcome Swim (Pool)
7:45 to 9:00 p.m. – 70s Stick & Puck / Everyone Welcome Skate (Arena)
