The legend of The Red Thread of Fate or Destiny spans many cultures and has come to symbolize the connections we have in our lives whether in the past, present or future. Visit the Gage Gallery for the Opening Reception of the Red Thread, from 5pm – 8pm on Thursday, 1st December.
As part of the Oak Bay Art Walk, this Gage Collective of artists has a dynamic display of paintings, photos and sculpture to be featured in this exhibition. The diversity of the group comes together in this special exhibit ‘The Red Thread – Making Connection Visible’ and we’re inviting people to share in the connection. Each artist has a thread extending out to every person in our community and our display will celebrate this connection.
Our artists responded to the Red Thread theme: “ When I show my art, this is how I connect with people. The main reason for me to show my artwork is to make this connection.” “We are a collective, we have been drawn together by destiny. Its what makes the Gage Gallery unique.” “Red is high energy” “I can relate the red thread to my artwork since I often do historical based portraiture. The red thread connects back through the centuries, as well as to a contemporary theme.” The Gage Gallery is a members' Collective that was established in Oak Bay Village in August 2014. Our members are professional artists creating a wide range of fine art, with exhibitions changing every three weeks. We have recently opened an exciting new Gift area. Visit our new Small Works Gallery where all artists are represented with a selection of artwork suitable for gift giving. Come visit our gallery and see what we have to offer from fine art, to prints and cards, or learn about us through our website at www.gagegallery.ca Or call 250.592.2760 for further information.
