Oak Bay Arts & Culture Week Kickoff

Join us for a special kickoff at the Oak Bay Municipal Hall Lawn hosted by the Mayor of Oak Bay, Nils Jensen and Arts Laureate, Barbara Adams.

Activities include a proclamation by Oak Bay’s Town Crier, the announcement of a new Acorn Arts Award for Oak Bay, two walking tours of ArtsAlive Public Art Installations led by Artist and Public Art Committee Member Robert Amos, and artists painting outdoors along Oak Bay Avenue.

Additionally, from 10am to 5pm, the following members of Oak Bay’s Gallery Row art galleries will be open to the public: Side Street Studio Local artist, Helen Stewart, will be at Side Street Studio from 1.30 to 3.30 pm on Saturday August 6th. She will be here to sign her most recent book. This is a sumptuous colouring book filled with her drawings. It is called “Creation through Colour” and it is designed to increase one’s appreciation of our natural world. It is not just a study in colouring but also lessons about drawing, creating and connecting with nature. Helen is a printmaker and gardener par excellence. She understands plants, knows the comforts of the garden and the joys of paper. Use her lines to imagine and to play.
