The Noedy Hechavarria Duharte Quartet performs at Hermann's Jazz Club on May 29.

Noedy Hechavarria Duharte comes from Santiago de Cuba, a city Cubans affectionately call “la tierra caliente” (the warm land). Noedy just completed a bachelor degree in Jazz Music Performance from the School of Music at the University of Sherbrooke in the Province of Québec. Before leaving Cuba, Noedy studied at the Alvaro Variel Conservatory in Havana. He moved permanently to Victoria in January 2015 to stay with his family. Noedy has been active on the jazz scene of Montreal since his arrival in Canada in 2008. His studies in Jazz allowed him to deepen his knowledge of various jazz artists, such as Sonny Rollins, Joe Lovano and Jerry Bergonzi, who remain strong influences to his work. Noedy HD Quartet is the encounter of young talented musicians who live and play in Victoria.
