7:00 PM to 9:00 PM

Owls are a very beautiful and fascinating group of birds with their very distinctive appearance and haunting calls. Learn about the mystery of Owls. John Neville will play you his professional recordings and slides of these fascinating birds of prey. He will introduce you to Canada's owls and all but one can be found in BC.

John has had a lifelong interest in birds which began in England. John regularly presents at Birding Festivals such as Brant Festival, Wings over the Rockies and the Meadowlark Festival. He has published articles in journals for the Ontario Federation of Naturalists (Seasons), BC Field Ornithologists (BC Birds), Wildlife Sound Recording Society (Wildlife Sound), and BC Nature (BC Nature) of which he is the Past President. You can listen to interviews with John and sample his recordings on his website www.nevillerecording.com.

Recently John's nature recordings have been used by the Canadian Wildlife Service for Training DVD, CBC Television, The Nature of Things and Parks Canada Interpretive Programs. His work is now being exhibited in the new Robert Bateman Center in Victoria. He is currently working on his most ambitious project ”Bird Songs of Canada.”

John records in the wild with great sensitivity for the critters and field craft awareness. His major aim is that the production of his art of nature recording will make people more aware of the feathered creatures and their need for a protected habitat.
