Nature Morte: New Approaches to Still Life
add to outlook add to google calendar remind me
This mixed/multi-media course investigates contemporary approaches to the still life genre using a range of methods including drawing, painting, collage, photography, installation, performance, video and/or social practice. Still life, historically understood as subject matter in painting, is an approach to art making that uses what is around us to investigate our relationship to things/others, our mortality, our habits and obsessions etc. This class seeks to explore our everyday experiences and how these observations can manifest visually through art making and push the boundaries of the still life tradition. Some art experience recommended. Recommended text: Nature Morte: Contemporary Artists Reinvigorate Still Life Tradition.
