This intensive workshop will teach you how to get started in natural backyard beekeeping!
Topics covered will include:
- Advantages of different hive designs (primarily Langstroth, Warre and Top Bar)
- Detailed instructions on how to build an effective hive for this climate
- How to obtain materials and bees in Victoria
- Natural approaches to bee health
- Bee-friendly hive management
You will be able to have a good look at hives and equipment while we practice how to inspect a beehive. A walk to check out a beehive in the area will be part of this workshop.

Presenter:
Tara Beninger is a local beekeeper who followed her lifelong urge to keep bees. She builds Warre hives and currently has two different types of hives in Victoria. She is studying Organic Land Care with Gaia College. Tara works in childcare and education, and loves to play in the garden, research bees and build hives.
