If it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas around your place, just imagine what it looks like at the Chamber of Commerce where they’re planning lunch for 400 plus on Wednesday, December 7. “Our Committee is working with the Vancouver Island Conference Centre to create an outstanding atmosphere inside the ballroom. The chef is pulling out all the stops for an old-fashioned Christmas menu. There are over $30,000 worth of auction items so you could virtually do all your Christmas shopping right there,” reported Kim Smythe, CEO of the Chamber. “From vacations on the west coast and Victoria, helicopter rides, snorkelling with seals, golf packages, tons of mixed merchandise and so much more.” People begin to gather around 11 am and network to the background holiday tunes of the Wellington High School Jazz Combo.

The buffet selection – built around a delicious roast turkey dinner -- will be a headliner, but if past Christmas feasts are any example, the dessert buffet will be a close runner up. The festive theme this year is “Your Favourite Christmas Movie” and guests are encouraged to dress as your favourite character. The Chamber gives everyone a holiday from the usual monthly luncheon format. Instead, it’s networking around the buffet, lunch and dessert tables, a fast and furious live auction, then some shopping and networking at the silent auction tables. Door and raffle prizes are also featured.

Never an event to be missed, because it’s not really Christmas until you’ve had lunch with 400 close, personal friends. Small business mingle with large corporations, local government, health care, and education leaders -- and all local business sectors are represented. Everyone is welcome, whether they are Chamber members or not.
