Nanaimo Museum Spring Break Family Activities

Back by popular demand, families can enjoy a week of drop-in activities at the Nanaimo Museum during Spring Break.  Monday, March 23 to Friday, March 27 in the afternoon from 1pm - 4pm.  The activities are designed for children ages 5-12 years to participate in, along with their parents, grandparents or caregivers.

“Spring Break at the museum continues to grow in popularity every year, ” says Aimee Greenaway, Interpretation Curator.  “Last year there were more than 600 participants.”  The activities are designed for children in elementary school but each day will have one activity suitable for preschool-aged children.  “The drop-in format provides families with the flexibility to attend any time between 1 pm and 4 pm,” says Greenaway.  “The museum is a great place to have quality family fun time and keep the kids entertained during the school break.”

Each afternoon has a different theme with related activities:  Monday offers a Blast from the Past, Tuesday the Coal Miner, Wednesday kids can Sail Away, Thursday discover Chinatown, and Friday consider Shipwrecked! The activities include hands-on activities and art projects, and will take approximately one hour to complete.  Please visit www.nanaimomuseum.ca for more details.

Families may participate in activities on all five days or just attend the theme day of their choice.  The activities are available on a drop-in basis from 1 pm – 4 pm during Spring Break.  There is no pre-registration. 

Admission is by donation, including all Spring Break activities and a museum visit. Please note: Caregivers must be present for the duration of the program.
