There are community kiosks, a vendor’s market and food trucks but the major feature promises to be the ‘Best Dressed Pet Contest’ where ‘furry, feathered, scaly and slimy pets are invited to bring their humans’ to win great prizes. A ‘Tricks and Talents’ category for non-costumed pets is included.

The event gets underway at 11 am with magician Craig McKee handling MC duties. He’ll be joined during the day by special guests 5-time Juno nominees Bobs & Lolo, Canadian Folk Music Award winners Fiddelium, The Big Mess, String Fever, High Moon Moan and Footprints of the Wolf.

Community Kiosks will feature local non-profit organizations highlighting opportunities in sports, art, education, and community services. Some will be offering ‘Sign Up Services’ for their fall programming and teams. Everyone’s favourite vendors will be easily discovered in the Marketplace while gastronomic variety will be on order in the Food Truck Circle.

All activities and attractions are free with a voluntary donation to Nanaimo’s Rotary North Club who will be on-site with a traditional Corn Roast. Proceeds support Rotary’s food security initiatives for youth in Nanaimo.
