* Friday June 18 from 5:30 to 6:30pm * Saturday June 19 from 11am to noon * Friday June 25 from 5:30 to 6:30pm and * Saturday June 26 from 11am to noon.

It's that time of year again. Cherries are ripening and apples trees are showing small green apples with the promise of a good harvest this fall. With all the cool weather so far this spring, some crops may be a bit later to ripen but the Gleaning Program will be getting ready so that we are ready to take advantage of the wonderful crops whenever they ripen!

If you are interested in being a volunteer gleaner, plan on attending one of the upcoming mandatory orientation sessions. They will be held at the Pine St Community Garden behind the Foodshare Centre at 271 Pine St on

* Friday June 18 from 5:30 to 6:30pm
* Saturday June 19 from 11am to noon
* Friday June 25 from 5:30 to 6:30pm and
* Saturday June 26 from 11am to noon.

If you want to attend any of these sessions, just attend one of these sessions and be prepared to sign a 2010 membership form and submit your fee. If you are unable to attend at any of these times contact Lee at 816-4769 or [email protected] to arrange and alternate orientation session.

For those who have always wanted to glean but have found child care an issue, we will be putting together pick teams that include parents of very young children that need supervision. A meeting will be set up to allow parents to meet and determine how they wish the teams to be structured. To be considered for these teams or for more information please contact Lee.
