Nanaimo Community Gardens Annual General Meeting 2013

The days are growing longer, plants are coming to life and gardeners are starting to think about the upcoming gardening year. The Nanaimo Community Gardens Society (NCGS) is holding its Annual General Meeting to gear up for spring.

This year, the NCGS is looking towards moving forward with plans to vacate the RDN Greenhouse facility and set up a new greenhouse for our activities. In past years, the NCGS has sold locally produced vegetable, herb and flower seedlings grown without chemicals. The society is working to actively procure a new place to operate. More information on this will be presented at the Annual General Meeting.

Interested community members are invited to attend the Society's AGM on March 17th from 2-3 pm to learn more about how to participate in programs and activities such as gleaning and hands-on gardening. The event will include a presentation and report on society programs and activities from 2012.

This meeting will include a snack potluck with dessert provided. The society wants to thank all volunteers for their hard work in 2012 and provide an opportunity to share food and company with directors and other volunteers. There will be a slide show of the operations at Pine St and the Greenhouse over the years.

This year there are 3 vacancies on the board of directors providing a great opportunity for involvement at the decision making level. This is an ideal way for current volunteers to learn more about how their society operates.
