Nanaimo Chamber Orchestra, "Expressions of the Heart"
add to outlook add to google calendar remind me
Aaah! The music is both stimulating and heart-rendingly beautiful, and performed in a space that brings it close and personal - as chamber music should. The NCO, directed by Karl Rainer, will perform a Baroque Concerto Grosso by Gemigniani, Gustav Holst's "A Moorside Suite", Vaughan William's "Fantasia on Greensleeves" and the exquisite Adagietto from Mahler's Symphony #5, for 3 harps and string orchestra. The main feature of the concert will be Mozart's Concerto in A Major for Clarinet to be played by Nanaimo's gifted young musician, Liam Pistor. This Concerto was written shortly before Mozart's death, was lost until the mid-20th century and has since become standard repertoire for clarinettists. In keeping with its mandate, the NCO continues to mentor, encourage and provide opportunites for young musicians in the Mid-Island region, with 3 scholarship winners in the violin sections and 3 young harpists on the program. Tickets are available at the Port Theatre Box Office or at the door.
