Nanaimo Before Nanaimo: presented by the Nanaimo Historical Society

The hands of time turn back from thousands to millions of years at the AGM of the Nanaimo Historical Society:

Part One:

Graham Beard, long-standing Qualicum resident and internationally know fossil hunter and researcher will discuss the origins of Nanaimo's coal deposits and also its abundant yield of well-preserved fossils of plant and animal life. Graham will bring selected fossils from his collection of more than 20,000 pieces.

Part Two:

Bill Merilees of Nanaimo is a prominent British Columbian naturalist and educator. His talk and slides will focus on the topographical and shoreline changes wrought to the Nanaimo area by the last glacial period 12,000 years ago.
