Week One: March 14 – 18

Icon, Object and the Absurd!

Ages 8-12   9:30 am – 12 pm

Ages 13-16 1 pm – 4 pm

What is art? Anything and everything? Is it things or ideas? Elevation of the ordinary?

Explore ideas about art, learn and create using traditional and contemporary approaches to sculpture, painting, video, and photography. Tour the Gallery exhibition and be inspired by artist Ron Tran whose practice explores chance, coincidence, the mundane and the ordinary in daily life. Art can engage the community inside and outside the Gallery—we too will find innovative ways to engage our community in random surprise art experiences downtown!

Week Two: March 21 – 24

Inside Out / Outside In

Ages 5-7 9:30 am – 11:30 am

Acclaimed artist Ron Tran likes to change the way we see ordinary things by placing them in a different setting. Join us for some fun as we look at things in different ways. Kids will explore Ron's exhibition in the Gallery and become inspired to create their own works. We will create slotted sculpture, unique artist trading cards, spin painting, drawing by touch, a treasure hunt, and much more. $100 plus tax for four classes, all art supplies included.

Places and Traces

Ages 8-12 1 pm - 3:30 pm

Ron Tran collects experiences as part of his art practice. Tour the Gallery to learn about Ron's work, then come along on a special walk downtown, inspired by ideas from the exhibition, and discover new experiences of looking at and making art. This is a fun-filled Spring Break adventure, featuring a slotted group sculpture, spin painting, drawing by touch, unique artist trading cards, and lots more.

$100 for four classes, all art supplies included.
