Calaveras or Sugar Skulls are beautifully decorated skulls created as offerings to the spirits, a tradition practiced for centuries in Mexico for Day of the Dead (Día de Muertos) festivities, or Hallowe’en as Nanaimoans might say. Create your very own colourful Papier-mâché Calaveras in this class!
Unique art classes and activities for children ages 5-11
10:30am until noon on select Saturdays at Nanaimo Art Gallery’s Art Lab!

If you have a LEAP card your child may be eligible for a bursary! Two LEAP spots are available each week; one per family. Each family is welcome to use up to 2 LEAP spots per month.
Maximum program enrolment is 16 students. All phone reservations must be paid prior to 5 pm the Friday before Saturday Studio. Walk-in payments are accepted until 10:15am Saturday if there is still space.
