Transforming Images with Bracken Hanuse Corlett
Sunday, March 4, 10 am – 4 pm
Bracken Hanuse Corlett is an interdisciplinary artist hailing from the Wuikinuxv and Klahoose Nations. Working with Bracken, we will use techniques in drawing, collage and tracing to create work from small to large-scale. Each participant will make a small-scale contour drawing that will then be transformed into a large-scale wall painting using four colours or tones. We will look at our relationships to the land and water that surrounds us. We will also explore memory and roots in other territories and imagined spaces.
Create without Borders with Yvonne Vander Kooi
Sunday, March 11, 10 am – 4 pm
Questions about who we are, where we are from, and how might we share our futures, are foregrounded in this creative exploration of image making led by Art Education Coordinator Yvonne Vander Kooi. Pulling images and maps from archives, popular culture, and from personal photos, we will draw, trace, paint and paste on a large transparent surfaces to create colourful graphic imagery. The picture plane extends into space and playfully considers images and ideas that move beyond traditional borders.
