An evening of music and stories will raise funds for a school for street children on the banks of the Ganges in Varanasi, India.
Jazz singer Jessica Morwood from Varanasi will join up with local singers Tina Filippino and Kel Kelly, and pianist Erik Taynen to bring an evening of jazz and folk music interspersed with tales of this remarkable school.
Jessica and her husband founded Jeevan school 14 years ago in response to the need they saw. The school now has 130 students, a hostel for 40, meal program and a clinic. They have just graduated their first student. Jessica teaches music and kindergarten there.
The school, free to the children, now has charitable status and runs on donations. Jessica's stories about this special school are touching and inspiring and the music will be terrific! Admission by donation, tax receipts available. All funds go to the school and hostel.
