Reunion, a band that has entertained locally for many years, will regale listeners with dance tunes from the 60s up to present day at the Museum Fundraiser Dance being held at the Sportsplex, Saturday, October 22. Doors open at 8pm.
Reunions history is linked to that of the Rogues who were a local Campbell River high school band that formed in 1962. The Rogues were one of the top amateur bands of the time, and participated in a provincial competition of 130 bands where they came in third. Norm Fair says that they came within inches of getting a recording contract signed.
The Rogues members separated, then regrouped after a few years under the name Reunion, and they had a big following in Victoria at places like the Purple Onion and the Club Tango.
Fair says that The Rogues and Reunion have volunteered their music and have raised tens of thousands of dollars for local causes over the years. Were still donating our time, he says, Were still crazy after all these years.
Current Reunion band members include Steven Sandholm on bass guitar, Glen Gark on guitar and vocals, Philip Nowe on keyboards, Wes Pickthall on drums, and Ron Aitchison is the lead singer. Norm Fair will join in on a few tunes, playing the harp and on vocals.
The dance is a major fundraiser for the Museum and is the first in five years.
