This is the first time our event is being held in Nanaimo, at Maffeo Sutton Park, Kin Hut. We have a brand new name & lots happening. Three bands are donating their time, Search and Rescue will be there as well.
We are now the Cure to End ALS; previously the Walk to End ALS, which is ALS Canada. We have broken away from ALS Canada, so now all funds raised stay in BC. This is our biggest fundraiser and supports those living with ALS as well as their families. We are mostly volunteer based with a small paid staff, which keeps most of the money where it is needed.
The money is used for patient services as well as research. We also have Project Hope, which is to keep research at UBC so people in BC don't need to travel elsewhere for trials. Our patient serves program also has a loans program. Anything people need for mobility or beds, etc. is supplied at no cost.
