12:00 PM to 4:00 PM

Building on the success of the first two electric car and bike shows that took place in May and September 2019, plus the Covid-safe event last fall, Watershed Sentinel, Emotive BC and the Comox Valley Electric Vehicle Association and Glasswaters Foundation are delighted to offer Move 2 Electric: an EV Test Drive and Show and Shine.

Guests are invited to attend to learn directly from EV owners, check out nearly all electric cars available in Canada, take a test drive in an EV with a local dealership and learn about or ride an e-bike. Educational booths will offer information about federal and provincial rebates, handouts with various makes and models and a map featuring all the charging infrastructure in the surrounding area.

There will be 20-30 local electric vehicles parked at the Comox Marina along with longtime EV owners to showcase the future of transportation. “Electric vehicles are far cheaper to operate, fill-ups are under $10 and there are no oil changes,” says Randy Chatterjee, president of the Comox Valley Electric Vehicle Association. “They also don’t pollute the air we breathe, and are quieter, smoother, faster, and more capable in every way than gasoline or diesel power vehicles.” Chatterjee owns a Chevy Spark and a Tesla Model S and will never buy anything other than an EV from now on. Both his vehicles will be displayed on September 25. Guests are welcome to bring their specific questions about range, battery life, performance, charging and other features and talk directly to EV owners with their vehicles. Cars on display will include multiple Teslas, a Jaguar iPace and Hyundai Kona, Nissan Leafs, Chevy Bolts, Kia Soul and Niro, and many more.

The speaker series will feature Dale Erhart addressing the benefits of EV ownership, range, charging and solar at 1:00 pm, a Motorize representative discussing affordability, rebates and buying used EVs at 2:00 pm, and a Q&A panel with the Comox Valley Electric Vehicle Association at 3:00 pm.

“If you’ve never driven an electric vehicle before, we will have several dealerships onsite to offer test drives of various makes and models,” adds Chatterjee. The test drive sign up will be on a first come first serve basis at the Emotive Test Drive booth, starting at 12:00 pm.

For guests that are interested in e-bikes, Amped Rides will showcase their collection and offer test rides, as an even greener way to get around. Guests can also enter to win a gift basket valued at $150 just for attending.
