The Civic Orchestra of Victoria is delighted to bring Moshe Hammer to the Alix Goolden Hall stage on the afternoon of Saturday, March 12, 2016!
As a world-renowned violinist and teacher, Moshe Hammer is admired for his artistic style, unique interpretations and vibrant tone. He has traveled the world enthralling audiences as a soloist and chamber musician.
Born in the ruins of Budapest, Hungary after Wolrd War II, Moshe and his family traveled to the new country of Israel as refugees. There, as Israel was struggling to build itself in a troubled region of the world, young Moshe established himself as an award-winning violinist. With a number of recordings to his name, Moshe Hammer commands a variety of musical styles. "The music of the Romantic period has been specially close to my heart," says Moshe.
Join us as Moshe performs one of the most famous concertos for violin from the Romantic era, Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto in D Major, Opus 35 with the Civic Orchestra of Victoria, conducted by Yariv Aloni.
The programme also features Beethoven's Fidelio Overture, Opus 72b and Schumann's Symphony No. 3 in E-flat Major (Rhenish). This concert will be the highlight of our season - you won't want to miss it!
