Mélange III Art Exhibit at Shoal Point Moka House Coffee Fisherman’s Wharf, Victoria, BC August 2 – 30, 2015 Bringing together two highly creative local artists whose works and artistic view points are unique, moving and insightful, Carron Berkes and Rob Vickery present Mélange III: a diverse array of two-dimensional works in acrylic, mixed media and watercolour paintings and photography.

Running until August 30th, the art show is a free community event, suitable for all ages and family members. About the Artists Carron Berkes is an internationally collected local artist who enjoys painting, sculpting and photography. Working as a multi-media visual artist in painting (acrylics and watercolours), mixed media, recycled art and found objects, her many colourful themes include the natural world (plants, animals and landscapes), abstraction, figurative and whimsical narratives. Works presented in this show speak of subtle and vibrant energy, light, color, shape and form. Infused with simplicity and imagination, her art blends realism (The Rose, Thundering Surf) with abstractive interpretations of the physical world (Far Away). Carron will show acrylic, watercolour and mixed media works. Rob Vickery creates two- and three-dimensional art, including drawings, hand-built ceramic sculpture, mixed-media, paintings and photography. His works are in private collections in Canada, Thailand, Japan and America. The body of work presented in this show is primarily about the quality of light that comprises the physical world, yet hints at a light within the self, and offers a glimpse of life’s subtle inner nature.

Blending physically recognizable objects found in nature with the play of light, Vickery's photographic works contain subtle spiritual undertones, hinting that there might be something more to this world worth appreciating. His paintings are a mélange of many qualities: subtle, quiet, introspective, silent; textured—both real and implied, they reveal a narrative of physical rhythms and undercurrents, and possibly of a greater awareness of being. Photographic and acrylic works will be featured. About Moka House Coffee & Bistro Welcome to Moka House at Shoal Point, your neighbourhood coffee shop.
