The joyous spirit of Canadian piano-pop songwriter Mike Evin pulses through his music, uplifting and soulful. Drawing from influences as varied as Ben Folds and Michael Jackson, Evin weaves hook-laden melodies, playful vocals, and driving grooves to create danceable pop gems and hopeful musings on life and love.
His sense of wistful wonderment and desire to let loose have earned him a devoted following throughout North America, and among some of Canada’s most renowned musicians – like Barenaked Ladies and Ron Sexsmith.
Evin’s live show with just piano and drums never fails to grab hold of a crowd. He’s shared stages with Canadian colleagues such as Sexsmith, Dan Mangan, Sarah Harmer, Martha Wainwright and Amy Millan (Stars) and has done numerous live concerts taped for CBC Radio broadcast. Festivals he’s performed at include the Ottawa Folk Festival, Halifax Urban Folk Festival, NXNE, Northern Lights Boreal Festival and Summerfolk.
