What ethical principles should govern epidemic prevention and response? What responsibilities do each of us have in an outbreak?
Dr. Laura Shanner will outline some of the challenges of "crisis ethics" and precautionary actions. A graduate of Georgetown University, Dr. Laura Shanner is a consultant and researcher in health care ethics. She has served as an expert consultant for various committees, including several policy development committees for Health Canada. She has taught biomedical ethics at the University of Alberta, the University of Toronto, John Hopkins University and Georgetown University.
Her primary interests include public health, reproduction, genetics, and health policy and law. She has published many journal articles and book chapters spanning the fields of biomedical ethics, philosophy, women’s studies, law, comparative theology, and experimental sciences.
