Join the Retail Action Network for a Labour History Walking Tour of downtown Victoria! We'll be visiting important sites of struggle and resistance in the lives of workers throughout the ages.
The tour begins at Fisherman's Wharf at 2:00 p.m. sharp. From there, we'll make a stop at the B.C. Legislature, and then continue to Bastion Square. We'll visit Wild Coffee, the site of a contemporary labour struggle, and then break for a beer or other refreshment at the Victoria Events Centre. After that, we'll visit the Chinese School on Fisgard and Royal Athletic Park, before ending up at Logan's Pub for drinks and discussion. The total walking distance is 3.9 km.
This event is taking place on unceded Lekwungen territory. Retail Action Network wishes to acknowledge the relationship between capitalism, labour, and colonialism. We hope that this will be a diverse and inclusive tour which explores just a few of the contributions that indigenous peoples, women, and immigrants have made to the labour movement in our community.
