MAY'd on the ROCK: Gabriola May 17 & 18 presents Tangled Roots & Guests with North American Roots Music from the Heart.. A fundraiser for the food bank on Gabriola Island. An evening of toe tapping, foot stomping, good timey music for a really good cause. 100% of the proceeds go to supporting food security on Gabriola Island.

Tangled Roots is a vibrant quartet of musicians—Fred Apstein, Marshall Mangan, Ray Appel, and Seán Lewis—brought together by their shared love of North American roots music. With decades of experience across instruments like banjo, bass, guitar, ukulele, and more, they blend tradition, harmony, and heartfelt rhythm. Their journey began during the Covid lockdown and has grown into a deeply joyful collaboration. Whether it’s Fred’s quick wit and multi-instrumental flair, Marshall’s choral roots and string expertise, Ray’s rhythmic bass lines, or Seán’s inspiring late start and dedication, their music is rich with warmth, depth, and community.
