New Brunswick�s Matt Andersen has a larger than life showmanship that has been earning him a fervent and steadfast audience wherever he graces the stage. Matt's sprawling blues, roots and rock musical hybrid with his soulful voice and astonishing guitar pla�ying has sparked a phenomenal buzz across Canada and around the world, playing over 200 shows in 2012.

Matt�s narrative-driven writing cuts through the soul, blending blues and folk, encompassed in total honesty. He takes listeners on a ride with his diverse musical styles, skilled guitar work and over-the-top showmanship. Matt's intimate, high-energy performances have captivated audiences across the world, from Canada, to the US, to Australia and the UK, from small clubs to festivals. In 2012, Matt won three Maple Blues Awards for �Male Vocalist of the Year�, �Acoustic Act of the Year� and �Entertainer of the Year� as well as receiving a British Blues Award nomination. In 2013 Matt repeated his win at the Maple Blues Awards for �Male Vocalist of the Year�.

His 2011 studio album Coal Mining Blues was produced by well known Canadian bluesman, Colin Linden. Coal Mining Blues was recorded at Levon Helm�s studio in NY state with guest performances by Garth Hudson (Garth and Levon were members of the Canadian � American rock group The Band).

Matt is in the studio this fall to record his next album Weightless, which will be produced by Steve Berlin, then he is off to tour through Europe. Matt Andersen is a very real, rare, raw talent and career artist � vital to our musical landscape. The VJS is excited to have Matt back in Victoria in January, touring his freshly recorded album.
