Join author, Chris Sherlock, for a book reading of "Maquinna" which tells the story of the famous chief of the Nuu-chah-nulth people who encountered James Cook when he came to Vancouver Island in 1778. See Chris Sherlock talking about history and singing shanties in this short video shot in Cowichan Bay and Victoria: http://youtu.be/uJgaBk_yRsQ.

An army brat who grew up in Canada and Europe, Chris Sherlock is the author of the Maquinna Trilogy. As a young man, Sherlock spent 15 years tree planting in the wilds of British Columbia where he came to love the outdoors and got to see some of the most beautiful sights of the northwest coast. Chris Sherlock presently lives in the Cowichan Valley where he performs his music and is writing the second book of the trilogy. Sherlock is also producing educational and music videos with his production company, Rhythm and Rhyme.
