Please join the VIU WUSC Local Committee for our annual Uniterra-sponsored Symposium!
As always, we hold the Symposium as part of International Development Week. IDW's theme this year is Community Engagement From Local to Global. Our Symposium's topic is: "Making a Difference: One Volunteer at a Time".
Fitting this, we will have four speakers talking about volunteerism and community engagement on both local and global scales. Following their speeches, we will have a panel discussion. The speakers include:
- Professor Imogene Lim, Chair of Anthropology at VIU;
- George Anderson, Nanaimo City Councillor and Regional District of Nanaimo Director;
- Roberta Veenstra, Community Engagement Volunteer from Global Village Nanaimo; and
- TBA from Volunteer Nanaimo.
Refreshments will be provided at the event.
Doors open at 6:30pm; speeches start at 7:00pm.
The event will be held in the Royal Arbutus Room, which is located directly above the Upper Cafeteria/BDG 300 at VIU's Nanaimo campus. (Campus map here: http://www.viu.ca/map/docs/NanaimoCampus-colour.pdf)
