MADCHILD

Madchild of Vancouver based Swollen Members, was on a kamikaze run with the drug oxycontin (a synthetic substance similar to heroin) that had pushed him to the brink of oblivion. His left arm was completely numb, his lips had turned purple, and he was standing on death’s’ doorstep as his body finally gave up from four and a half straight years of opiate abuse. Madchild’s family panicked and immediately rushed him to emergency room in a race against the clock. After successfully battling for his life that night, Madchild had finally hit rock bottom. His drug addiction had spiraled out of control and destroyed everything the successful emcee had worked so hard to build with his platinum selling hip-hop group Swollen Members. The fancy cars, lavish houses and rock star luxuries were all gone, as his addiction had consumed over 3 million dollars worth of assets and finances in just over four years.

Throughout the next year as he struggled to take back his life from prescription pills, Madchild discovered his personal sanctuary in the arms of his music. Clean from drugs for the first time in his adult life, Madchild removed himself from temptation by walking away from his previous social life and bunkering down in his home studio secluded from the outside world.

For the next 10 months, Madchild feverishly wrote and recorded his first ever solo album “Dope Sick”. “Dope Sick” was inspired by Madchild’s battle with addiction and offers fans an open look at the cold realities of drug abuse. The album shows Madchild back on the top of his game spitting venom like a caged beast on everything from his addiction and his recent ban from the United States, to the current state of hip-hop. Not only is “Dope Sick” a story of triumph over adversity, but it has allowed Madchild to be reborn creatively.

Unshackled from the chains of his past indiscretions, Madchild has confronted his darkest demons and used them as a source of inspiration to create one of the most insanely captivating hip-hop releases of 2012.

Vancouver, BC transplant, Young Kazh has been generating quite the street buzz as of late. Known for delivering deep and powerful music that pays homage to legends like Tupac and Scarface, while maintaining a forward thinking edge seldom seen since the likes of Jay-Z, Young Kazh is poised to take the industry by storm. His recent release “Canadian Ties” featuring Mobb Deep, Onyx, JD Era, Merkules, and Snak The Ripper is an instant classic that bridges the gap between not only OG vets and fresh new talent, but east and west, north and south.

As an entertainer Sirreal knows how much hard work and dedication it takes to be one on Vancouver Islands’ best. A Perfect fit for any lineup, you may be surprised at what these guys can do.Sponsored by Nanaimo’s very own Smoke Zone, D. Tangible Two:

Tangible Two have been working to emerge from the hoards of Rap Entertainment. The Duo bring the 'in your face', dark, emotional, heartfelt, happy, bi polar sound; unlike any other duo has done before. Between the two of them they went through family separations, dealing with being labelled a Columbine threat , selling and using illegal narcotics, loosing those who are closest and being singled out from peers. Tangible Two have been making their mark on music through their live high energy show. Currently lacking a music video. Tangible have released single songs to continue to show their fans that they have never stopped working. Currently leasing their beats, it is a longer process to get the funding to pay for their album. With the continued growth of the Tangible Crew ( fans and friends ) Tangible Two , Wheat Stalk & Bagshaw promise a classic album that will change everything and it will drop soon. Bagshaw started rapping after he broke up with his fiancé, who is also the mother of his daughter. Bagshaw now raps with the full intent to succeed and provide the best life for his daughter, while being a single parent.

We would like to give you more history and insight on Bagshaw, but when we asked Bagshaw for more information he replied " because I'm hard as f$$k and it's a bunch of corny shit you'll never find out". Wheat Stalk began his passion for rap music at a young age; finding mixtapes and albums in his sisters CD collection. He started by buying his first computer, then recording with nothing but a desk top microphone. That simple setup eventually developed into his current self built home studio at which he uses his self taught mixing and mastering skills to create a crisp sound that can compete with top quality tracks. Wheat was a high school Columbine threat and was put on house arrest for a week because of a story he wrote in English class. When in Wheat's eyes, he didn’t have any intentions of repeating Columbine, but knowing he wrote a story powerful enough to get a week off from school, was a sign. After Wheat Stalk graduated, he immediately got into an illegal lifestyle. Luckily rock bottom was a wake up call to Wheat Stalk and he got back up on his feet and accepted the demons in his life. He started focusing more on the music, spending all his time in the studio working to create his album. An opportunity to perform in a live contest at which the winner got to open for Tech N9ne at The Queens in Nanaimo was up for grabs, Wheat Stalk entered. Wheat placed second , but his set still caught the right eyes and he was fortunate enough to gain a spot to open for Madchild instead. From then on, it has been progression and moving forwards. This is only the beginning for Wheat Stalk. Tangible Two did, in fact, go to the same high school in Ladysmith BC, but they never met or talked to each other throughout the entire time. It wasn't until late 2012 when they started talking. Wheat currently is working at a convenience store in Ladysmith at which Bagshaw often shopped . They occasionally would chat, smoked a few doobs and were good acquaintances. Wheat Stalk began telling Bagshaw about the shows he had been doing and Bagshaw was, at the time, recording his rhymes over beats on his cell phone. Bagshaw decided to show the recordings to Wheat. Wheat invited Bags up to his small studio and they made a track called "Can't You See" and started to collaborate daily. A few months in, they decided to go with the name Tangible Two. Bags and Wheatie are now roommates living in the studio, overcoming obstales, reaching goals, and growing everyday.

After opening for acts such as Krizz Kaliko, Madchild, Wildcard, Swollen Members, Tech N9ne, Snak The Ripper, Evil Ebenezer, Prevail, Alpha Omega, Slaine, Indelible, Prada West and more. Jumped on 3 tour dates from the West Coast Renaissance Tour and the Down As Ground Tour. They are currently sitting on songs that are going to be on their far to long anticipated album titled "Chaos". The Tangible Two, The Crazies, high flying, fast rhyming, face painted, skitzo, hyper and humble rappers alike. Can you get down with the Tangible?

DJ ALL GOOD:

DJ All Good (Peter Poole) is Vancouver Island’s Premier DJ. Starting out rocking houseparties in high school, All Good carries a fun loving, anything goes type of style that always pleases. Love of great music is the foundation that his DJ house is built upon. “My DJ style is “turntablism” which is about techniques (sampling, blends, cutting etc.) applied to music using turntables. Instead of being genre specific (hip hop, rock, house etc.) I can play any type of music with the flair of a performing artist. My Philosophy is to select choice sounds, chop and mix using turntablist techniques, and serve hot & fresh on two vinyl platters.” DJ All Good has repeatedly proven his skills in battle, most recently placing 2nd in the 2013 Western Canada DMC finals and 2nd in the 2009 Canadian National DMC finals.

Another testament to his party rocking skills is placing runner-up in Victoria’s Redbull 3style battle in 2008. All Good has been invited to jam sessions with world champion Djs, including Q-bert DJ Woody and Vinroc. A highlight of his career was the chance to act as a guest teacher at Jam Master Jay’s Scratch Academy in New York City. Quickly becoming the next big thing on the scene, DJ All Good is not to be missed! Having proven himself on national and international stages, his next big project is known as “the TURNTEMPLE.” this portable, solar powered mixstation travels to music festivals, schools, and communities with a hands on approach to the preservation of vinyl based DJing techniques. Sophisticated use of samples and scratching, no sharp corners. Accessible music+Turntablist techniques= It’s All Good!
