As young people, old people, men, women, whatever part of the demographic you find yourself indentifying with, we ALL need to take a stand against drug facilitated sexual assault and violence against women.

"What can I do, I am only one person?"

First thing you can do is change your mindset that one person great or small can't have an impact. Have you ever tried going to bed with a mosquito in the room?

Next, come to the LITTLE BLACK DRESS GALA. Educate yourself, share in raising awareness with others around you, all the while raising funds in a great night out.

We all have mothers, sisters, daughters, girlfriends, aunts, the lists goes on and on of the amazing women in our lives, this is not just a women's issue. This is an event for men and women! We ALL need to be a part of the movement, we ALL need to say No it's not ok to sexually assault women.

November 25th is the International Day to End Violence Against Women. At the Gala, learn the signs, symptoms, preventative measures around "drink spiking", and also other campaigns going on across B.C.

All the proceeds from the event will be donated to the Havens Society of Nanaimo, an organization that provides services to women, children, youth and families who have been affected by violence. To learn more visit http://havensociety.com/wp​/

Why "Little Black Dress" you ask? Because everyone should be able to get dressed up, have an evening out to responsibly enjoy themselves, and make it home safe. Period.

So get on your little black dress, or whatever art gallery cocktail attire you wish, enjoy the tapas, desserts and refreshments that have been kindly donated by local businesses.

There will also be entertainment from local talents such as Tim Mills who will be spinning the night away, a set from musician Ed Lee, and a few special performances to be announced.
