Linden Traditions: Community
add to outlook add to google calendar remind me
The Linden Singers of Victoria is pleased to welcome award winning Vancouver choir, EnChor, and its new director Morna Edmundson. This joint concert pays tribute to “community”, in keeping with a tradition and a value that is fundamental to both of these choirs.
The Linden Singers believe in building community through song; EnChor is about “belonging in a community that is supportive, sprinkled with good humour and stimulating”.
In addition to simply enjoying the experience of choral community - the programme will feature the choirs individually and en masse with close to 100 voices - the spotlight will be on local composers and the wealth of talent in our own backyard. Featured composers include Jennifer Bennet, David Archer, Kathleen Allan, and Tobin Stokes, many of whom are personally known to us and the greater community.
Both choirs look forward to singing together for our extended community of friends and fans.
About the Linden Singers
The Linden Singers of Victoria is a vibrant, mixed-voice, multi-generational, auditioned choir. Its 50 members share a passion for choral music and a commitment to creating memorable performances for their audiences. Integral to creating memorable music is Music Director, Brian Wismath who brings a dynamic energy, focus and sensitivity to his leadership of the choir. Mr. Wismath, with an extensive and diverse background in choral music, directs a variety of ensembles in Victoria. In 2017, the British Columbia Choral Federation honoured Brian’s contributions to choral music in BC by presenting him with the Herbert Drost Award.
About EnChor
EnChor is an acclaimed, mixed-voice, auditioned choir based in Vancouver for experienced singers 55 years and older. The choir is the creation of the late Dr. Diane Loomer, C.M. She felt there was a largely untapped well of experienced singers who had reached their 55th birthday and were still interested in performing high quality music. EnChor draws on the strong musical background and depth of experience of its members to produce programs which please music aficionados and provide entertainment for all. Artistic Director, Morna Edmundson, is also Artistic Director of Elektra Women’s Choir. Her accomplishments include the BC Choral Federation’s Healey Willan Award (2000), a BC Community Achievement Award (2009), YWCA Woman of Distinction Award, Arts and Culture category (2011), and UBC Alumni Builder Award (2017).
