Life’s Work: A Visual Memoir by B.A. Lampman

Gallery hours Wednesday – Sunday, 12-5pm

Opening Reception: Friday 03 June, 7PM-9PM (artist in attendance)

"My current work is a visual memoir about the last five years of my mother’s life, after she’d been diagnosed with Lewy Body dementia. It’s also about my uneasy relationship with her growing up, and how that made dealing with her dementia a kind of spiritual quest I didn’t know I was going to have to make. All of the work in this show is ink on paper, and has been leading toward a future graphic memoir that will consist of a series of paintings telling the story from start to finish."

– B.A. Lampman, 2022

This exhibit underscores the VAC’s commitment to supporting local artists and their exploration, through art, often of hard realities. Life’s Work: A Visual Memoir will be presented in the main gallery at 1800 Store Street with a special installation in the Vault as well.

We are thrilled to be able to host this exhibit and to recognize the artist and her work with a public reception, Friday 3 June at 7PM.

We welcome all to a special panel discussion with the artist and local community health specialists: B.A. Lampman, Jeanne Tolmie, and Dr. Leah Norgrove, organized and moderated by Desirée Leal.

Saturday 18 June @ 3PM at the VAC Main Gallery, 1800 Store Street
