Nanaimo's Law Day is part of the Canadian Bar Association's Law Week 2013, a province-wide week of celebrations including open houses, mock trials, Fun Run, and a public speaking contest for high school students.
The timing is chosen to coincide with the signing of Canada's Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and this years theme is Access to Justice: The Role of Public Opinion. Law Day provides an opportunity to learn more about the justice system, what the legal community does and what legal resources are available.
