Join us at the Nanaimo Courthouse on Saturday, April 14th, to celebrate the signing of Canada�s Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
Law Day provides the public with an opportunity to learn about the law and some of the legal institutions that form the cornerstones of Canadian democracy.
Events include:
�The Trial of The Big Bad Wolf with a real Judge
�Panel of two Judges and the Assistant Attorney General, Criminal Justice Branch, followed by a Q&A session
�RCMP K-9 Unit demonstrations
�RCMP �Walk the Line� demonstrations
�RCMP Presentation on drugs in our community
�Tours of the Sherriff�s Van and Cells
�Exhibits by various Community Resource groups including
Street Legal/Legal Services Society, Native Court Worker Association, Nanaimo Citizens Advocacy Association, the Nanaimo Men�s Resource Centre, CVI Muliticultural Society, the John Howard Society, Nanaimo Correctional Centre, and the VIU Criminology Program
�Court Registry staff available for questions and demonstrations on e-filing court documents
�Door Prizes
�BBQ Concession manned by a local Scout troupe
Law Day in Nanaimo is sponsored by The Canadian Bar Association, BC Branch, the Nanaimo County Bar Association, the Nanaimo City Bar Association and the Justice Education Society.
