Keeping It Closed - West Coast Swing Dance and Workshop

Sara will be teaching an all levels workshop: Keeping It Closed. We will focus on the basics but give it a twist: use what we know in closed position!

Everyone is welcome; no partner or dance experience required.

Schedule:

7:00pm - 8:00pm: All-Levels Workshop

8:00pm - 10:00pm: Social Dance

Entry: $15, cash at the door or e-transfer

West Coast Swing is a modern partner dance, dancers choose to either lead or follow. Often danced to popular music, West Coast Swing evolved from Lindy Hop to a smooth, elastic dance with a focus on connection, musicality, and creativity.

About Sara

Sara Raymond is a dance teacher, studio owner, and competitive dance trainer who is passionate about helping dancers build confidence, develop their skills, and enjoy the art of dance. She enjoys working with students of all ages and abilities, creating a supportive environment where they can learn, grow, and achieve their personal goals. Alongside teaching, Sara organizes and hosts two annual dance events, Nanaimo Dance Fusion and Rhythm in Rows, bringing together dancers and studios to share their love of dance and connect with the wider community. Through her work in the studio and these events, Sara is committed to supporting and celebrating dance in her community.

The Nanaimo West Coast Swing Collective hosts social dances every 1st and 3rd Friday of the month at Wellington Hall.
