Keeping an Illustrated Journal Workshop

An illustrated journal is a wonderful way to keep a record of day-to-day life as well as travel. A quick illustration can capture a memory in a unique way. In this class we will go over materials (journals, watercolours, pencil crayon, pens), and techniques (basic watercolour and pen and ink).

Adapting this idea to the idea of a garden journal we will learn some quick and simple ways to draw and paint plant subjects as well as interesting fonts and page formats. Finally we will explore creative ideas to get started on your own illustrated journal. Students should bring along a small, round watercolour brush (size 4-6) and any other favourite pens, paints, coloured pencils, or journals they may want to share.

All other materials provided: Paper, watercolour, pencil crayons and pens.
Each student will also receive a custom bound journal. (course: MGWM 005)
