Kadence is a new duo that consists of two members. These two young, accomplished musicians collectively play fiddle, guitar and, piano. With these isntruments they play music like celtic, jazz, swing, bluegrass, and much more. This duo will put on a by donation show for the purpose of your enjoyment and to get live performance video.
One of the member, Quin Etheridge-Pedden plays fiddle and guitar in the band, and he also plays some other instruments like bass outside of the group. Quin, with an album released in 2017, was nominated for a Canadian Folk Music Award in the Young Performer of the Year Category. After that he focused on more of his fiddle playing and competed at the 2018 Canadian Grand Masters, which is the highest level of fiddling in Canada. On most regular days you can find Quin writing, recording, and practicing music.
The other member of Kadence is Micaela Pereira. She is 19 years old and attending Vancouver Island University and is enrolled in the Jazz program. Micaela plays fiddle and piano. With violin being her first instrument, Micaela has completed her grade nine RCM exam and has taken suzuki teacher training in Waterloo ON. She also been practicing voice and piano to add to Kadence's unique sound.
Quin and Micaela both have multiple private violin and fiddle students. They also have recently started teaching group fiddle classes with Cross Canada Fiddle in Nanaimo.
