The first nativity scene, also called a creche, was created by St. Francis of Assisi. Villagers were called to a cave where they found a baby in a manger, and a few animals. St. Francis used the scene as a sermon illustration. The event captured the imagination of the listeners, and soon nativity scenes, both living and crafted, were popular in Christendom. Now you will find nativity sets around the world crafted by local artisans, portraying the nativity to reflect their own culture.

Creches from more than 3 dozen countries, crafted in many different materials, and ranging in size from smaller than a thumbnail to bigger than life-sized will be displayed. As you tour the venue, music of the season performed by local musicians plays in the background. Your children will enjoy the children's activity area as well as a dress-up area where the whole family can dress-up in pageant style costumes to take pictures of themselves around the manger.  We welcome you to come and see what the nativity looks like around the world.
